Holistic Childbirth
Holistic Childbirth is a perinatal education center offering workshops and counseling services to women and partners as they shift from prenatal to parenthood. Our mission is to support families holistically- not in just one stage of their journey but each step of the way. With evidence-based information on birth choices available to them, we encourage families to be active participants in their birth. Holistic Childbirth offers no one way or a "right way" to experience birth, but rather focuses on what is biologically normal in birth, the postpartum period and breastfeeding. With support, tools, information and encouragement, families are empowered to make more active choices which helps them bond as parents and as the new family they will become.
Holistic Childbirth supports the Triple-Bottom Line Principles both in business practices and personally. Classes focus on social sustainability through personal empowerment, facilitating healthier births, mothers- and in turn healthier babies and families. (Women who attend childbirth education classes or work with a doula experience a lower rate of medical intervention, are less likely to use medication in birth, have c-sections or experience postpartum depression). Workshops highlight environmentally healthy birth and postpartum practices (natural birth, cloth diaper introduction and breastfeeding). It is also our practice to support local businesses through referrals and partnerships. Talking about birth is important to the health of every community and healthy birth is about more than a healthy baby- it is a healthy family.
