A localvore cooking show that starts at the beginning - introducing kids (and grownups) to the people who grow and raise their food. We go to a farm, learn about a featured food, then make a simple, family friendly dish together.

Get Foodie might be described as a cooking show, but it really is an adventure program. We�re discovering new places, learning about animals, vegetables, equipment and eggs, as we make new friends and bravely try things we�ve never tried before. We aim to lure the family away from the TV, away from advertised, packaged, processed, factory foods, and out into their local community to discover the flavor and color and texture of real, fresh, local ingredients. We�ll start with a trip to meet the people that grow and raise our dinner. We might interview a woman who grows delicious heirloom tomatoes, investigate how a happy chicken spends its day, ask " Where exactly does milk come from?" or tug the bright orange jewel of a carrot up out of the earth. .. I�m Carisa Fallon, and these are my girls, Rebecca and Ema. Join us as we explore foods that come in every color in the crayon box, talk texture - is cooked zuchinni always slimy? Then we'll try out simple, kid friendly recipes using ingredients we�ve brought home from the day�s adventure. There won't be tons of fancy equipment or ingredients that you can't pronounce. We won't use complicated techniques or try to impress you with sophisticated terminology. I'm not a chef or a sommelier, or even a nutritionist. I'm a mom who loves to cook, loves to learn and explore with my kids, and cares about what I eat and where it comes from. A �foodie� could be described as a person fascinated with all aspects of food � origins, selection, production, and consumption. We want to encourage kids and parents to have that fascination and curiosity to learn about food � especially the bounty of local food here in the Finger Lakes region.
